Eid ul-Fitr 2007 [12 October 2007]

I and my family celebrate Eid ul-Fitr in my father’s extended family house at Balaimansiro, Payakumbuh, West Sumatera. The family house was typicaly a traditional Minangkabau house with a large rectangular structure, raised high above the ground, with a buffalo horn-shaped roof. A main room occupied much of the structure. Adjoining it were the living compartments, each occupied by a woman, her children, and her husband when present.
