Approval from the University Senate for a Ph.D. degree with effect on 9 May 1998, and the certificate was received on 21 August 1999, during the 23rd UTM Convocation Ceremony. Thesis: Tailoring of novel metal-substituted AlPO4-5 molecular sieves as potential catalysts for conversion of alcohols.
  • 1993–1995 | Magister Teknik (M.T.), equivalent to M.Eng., in Materials Science and Engineering (Cum Laude), Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. Thesis: Synthesis of hydroxylapatite bioceramics by means of precipitation and its characterization.

Research Interest

My research concentrates on developing and characterizing advanced materials and heterogeneous catalysts. This involves a multidisciplinary approach that merges materials science, heterogeneous catalysis, biomaterials, fuel cell science, and engineering, aiming to utilize these novel materials in emerging technologies.

Contribution to Bilateral Cooperation Between Indonesia and Malaysia in Higher Education

I am honored to be one of the founders of the Indonesia-Malaysia Research Consortium (I’MRC). This collaborative platform brings together universities from Indonesia and Malaysia in higher education. The initiative was launched on May 8, 2016, when the first Indonesia-Malaysia Research Consortium (I’MRC) forum was successfully held by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at the UTM Kuala Lumpur Campus. On October 2, 2017, the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education (MOHE), HE Minister Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, and the Indonesian Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, HE Minister Mohamad Nasir, chaired a bilateral meeting of high-level groups comprising policymakers from both ministries, rectors, and vice-rectors from renowned universities in Indonesia and Malaysia to discuss the I’MRC. During the I’MRC Forum, held on November 22, 2018, at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, it was agreed to establish five research clusters: Renewable Energy, Humanities and Culture, Biomedicine and Health, STEM Kits, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Risk Management.

My research endeavors have been financially supported by various organizations, including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia, the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Malaysia (MOSTI), the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia (MOHE), the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), and the Nippon Sheet Glass Foundation for Materials Science and Engineering. Therefore, the total research funding that has been obtained as a Project Leader is equivalent to approximately Rp 27 billion.
