Catalysis — the process by which the rate and products of chemical reactions are altered by a substance unchanged by reaction — is at the core of the chemical and petroleum industries. It has been estimated that catalysis-based processes represent 90% of current chemical processes and generate 60% of today’s chemical products. In addition to traditional roles in these industries, catalysts are of growing importance in fields ranging from environmental protection to pharmaceuticals and high-performance materials processing.
Recognizing the central role of catalysis in industrial practice, the Catalytic Science and Technology (CST) Research Group was founded at Ibnu Sina Institute for Fundamental Science Studies. The Research Group has multidisciplinary research in the scientific and engineering principles of catalysis. The research group’s mission is to conduct high-quality basic research and applied research within the catalysis area.
Members of our group are dedicated members of the teaching profession who are eager to provide students with the opportunity to undertake research projects that encourage the pursuit of graduate studies and research careers in the field of catalytic science and technology. We have chosen a path that focuses on both fundamental and applied research topics in catalytic science and technology that directly impact end-users, whether they are large multinational organizations, small businesses, or communities.
