Inauguration of Chairman and board of management of Indonesian Student Association at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was held at UTM. This event was officiated by Mr. Maryadi Hadisuwiryo, Head of Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia at Johor Bahru and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nordin Yahaya, Manager Marketing and International Students of School of Graduate Studies UTM. The presence of Mr. Maryadi Hadisuwiryo indicates a strong supports of Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia at Johor Bahru towards the activity of Indonesian students at UTM. I was invited to give a lecture on “research and education in university” after the inauguration.

YAB Dato` Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia officiated the building of Ibnu Sina Institute for Fundamental Science Studies, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Annual Fundamental Science Seminar 2005 (AFSS 2005) in which I am one of the members of the Organizing Committee. On the second day of the seminar, we have a tour to Tanjung Piai, the southernmost tip of mainland Asia.

Department of Science and Mathematics, Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia invited me to give a lecture on “Scientific Writing” on 2 June 2005 at Le Paris Hotel, Port Dickson, Malaysia. On our return to Johor Bahru, I and my family visited two landmark buildings in Kuala Lumpur: the 88-story Petronas Towers (the world`s tallest building) and Menara Kuala Lumpur (the fourth tallest telecommunication tower in the world).

My son, Farid, participated in Taekwondo, a Korean form of karate, contest. Unfortunately, he lost at the first stage.

Dr. Hadi Nur, Prof. Halimaton Hamdan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainab Ramli, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salasiah Endud and Assoc. Prof. Mohd Nazlan Mohd Muhid are invited to give a lecture on “Synthesis and Characterization of Zeolites” to 25 researchers of Mineral Research Center, Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia at Ipoh from 3 to 6 May 2005.

Indonesian Student Association at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and my family took a trip to Pulau Pinang for 2 days (23-25 April 2005). This activity is sponsored by the School of Postgraduate Studies, UTM. We visited Universiti Sains Malaysia, Bukit Bendera – Penang Hill and taste “Nasi Kandar”, the famous food in Pulau Pinang.
