Clever and stupid lecturers
There are some clever and stupid lecturers. For smart lecturers, their knowledge can be useful to others. However, for stupid lecturers, it’s just for the show off and to achieve glory with their bibliographic information.

Transparency in scientific publications
Why we need transparency in scientific publications? Because I believe that the advancement of science and innovation can be accelerated faster if information can be shared freely among scholars, scientists and to a wider community. These words can be found in my list of publications. The following journal is interesting to observe, especially from transparency point of view.

About number and indicator
Number, number, number and number.
When the numbers started to be an indicator in many aspects of life, then there is a tendency that numbers judge the meaning of all things. When the numbers decide things, then the purpose of human life is reduced to the numbers.
The use of numbers to measure something physical is valid. It is not wrong. However, this is going wrong when we use a number as an absolute judgment to evaluate humanity. This phenomenon often occurs in our daily life. It is dangerous when human life and the meaning of life only judge by number. The number can easily manipulate.
Prof. Tomoo Mizugaki [18 – 22 November 2013]
Prof. Tomoo Mizugaki (Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University) was our visiting professor from 18 to 22 November 2013. We had a fruitful scientific discussion with Prof. Tomoo Mizugaki. Some of my PhD students have chance to have a discussion with him at our new laboratory in C08 building. On 18 and 19 November 2013, he delivered lecturers in my Chemical Reaction Process (SSC4443) class on Catalyst Design. Prof. Mizugaki also delivered a keynote lecture at Technology, Education and Science International Conference 2013 organized by Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (PPI UTM) at UTM on 20 November 2013.

How to find the original Flickr Photo URL and User from a Static Flickr Image URL/Permalink
Got a link like http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2065/5720492675_c43bb0ae35.jpg and want to find out which user posted it, more images by that user, see the full-size version, etc? Seek no longer, the answer is very simple!
The image we found
From the URL you’ve got take extract the image name (5720492675_c43bb0ae35.jpg) and split it on the underscore. The first part is the photoID, the second part is the hash/salt and (if there) the third part the size (Full format: photoId_hash_size.jpg).
Now append that photoId to http://flickr.com/photo.gne?id=5720492675_c43bb0ae35.jpg and *MAGIC* there you have it, the Original Flickr Photo URL (and the user) 🙂 The example above would be transformed to http://flickr.com/photo.gne?id=5720492675
Cheers!
